VALS analysis

According to the results of my VALS survey I would be considered a experiencer and an achiever. A experiencer is motivated by self expression and is a young impulsive consumer. Their outlets of energy are geared towards exercising, playing sports or being involved in social activities. Experiencers also seek variety and excitment and savor new ,offbeat and risky situations. An Achiever is someone who lives a goal oriented life and who focus is structured around family work and religion. An achiever values predictability and stability over risk.
I have to admit the results from the VALS survey are a direct image of who i am. i spend alot of my money on clothes and entertainment. I love taking risk whether it be with fashion or just life in general. I think its interesting that at times i have the personality of an achiever. sometimes im goal oriented and at others i jus go with the flow of things.
I was born in the month if May and my group had to pick a target market for Hot Topic. Our target audience was a young male who wasnt really focuse on school but loved the rock and roll lifestyle and fashion since. I think that the VALS analysis would probaly be right if we had a consumer from hot topic take it. I believe the consumer would definetly be a experiencer like me. I love to shop at Hot Topic just because of the edge that there accessories and clothes have.

Wal- Mart Past, Present and Future

Wal -Mart is by far the largest retailer in the world. According to the RCS 261 text book there are over 2,300 Wal-Mart supercenters in the United States alone. Sam Walton is the man behind the the success of Wal-Mart. The first Wal-Mart was opened in Rogers, Arkansa in 1962. Sam Walton had so much great success with wal- mart because he had struggled and learned from having variety stores such as Waltons 5 and dime and Ben Franklins.
Wal-Marts have always and will continue to be known for their low prices and variety of goods. Wal-marts is the #1 retailer because of all that it was founded on. Sam Walton made sure that Wal-Marts around the world have name brands at lower prices then most competitors. the success of wal-mart is also a result of what they offer employees and the community. wal-Mart offers scholarships, profit sharing plans for employees and allows local charitities, girl and boy scouts to sale goods on its property.
Unfortunataley Sam Walton passed away in 1992. However he was the second richest man behind Bill Gates. Walton left his busines to his 3 sons, daughter and wife.

~Favorite Retailer~

I dont have a favorite retailer, however Wal-Mart is the one place that i spend alot of money at. The five top reason why i shop at Wal-Mart are the prices, its convient, there is one in every city that I have lived in, I was once an employee and the employees are nice. Wal-Mart is the one place where a college student can go and get just about everything they need while away from home.
The fact that Wal-mart is so cheap plays a huge roll in my decision to shop there. As a college student shoopping at Harris Teeter or Food Lion would not benefit me being that their merchandise is usualy $2 or $3 more. Even after i have my own clothing line an have plenty of money to spare i will probably still go to wal-mart for their low prices.
Due to me being a previous employee of Wal-Mart i realized jus how much of a benefit it was to have one around. Wal-Mart may not be the best place to work but the fact that it has so many employees nationwide says alot for itself.
